Investment of £700,000 will flow into Headcorn in September to ensure top quality drinking water continues to reach householders’ taps as the village grows.
South East Water is upgrading one kilometre of mains pipe in Tilden Road to help meet the increased demand for drinking water in the area. This will help ensure the continued supply of high-quality water to meet the growing needs of the local community into the future.
Project Manager for South East Water, Jeremy Dufour, said: “These vital works have been planned in order to support increased demand in the area. We are committed to delivering top quality water to our customers and this scheme ensures that we can continue to do so.”
To ensure the safety of the public and the company’s workforce, Tilden Road will be closed between the Tattlebury Lane/Ulcombe Road junction and Little Poplar Farm for the duration of the works. The scheme is set to start on Monday 9 September and it is anticipated the work will take an estimated four months to complete.
Jeremy added: “We understand that closing a road can be very disruptive. However, to ensure the safety of the public and our workforce, it is necessary on this occasion. This approach will also help speed up progress of the scheme.”
Businesses and residents will still be able to access Tilden Road, but there will be no access for through traffic. A diversion route, agreed with Kent Highways, will be clearly signposted to minimise the impact to traffic.
South East Water would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused as a result of this closure and appreciate the local residents patience and understanding whilst we complete this vital project.
This project forms part of South East Water’s £489 million commitment into improving its water network between by 2025.
