As part of an ongoing programme to improve our water supply network, we are investing £85,000 by replacing 200 metres of burst-prone pipe in Nine Mile Ride, Wokingham.

The new pipe runs along Nine Mile Ride, between the junctions of Johnson Drive and Range Road.

In order to minimise disruption, construction will be carried out in phases. When one section completes the road will be returned to its original state before we move along to the next stage.

As a safety precaution for pedestrians, motorists and our team, temporary traffic lights are now in operation for the duration of the work. We are very sorry for any disruption this may cause.

You will be able to access your home or business throughout this project, although there may be a short wait at times if we are working directly outside your property entrance.

Construction started on Monday 23 January and the project is expected to take approximately eight weeks to complete. However, our workforce will work as quickly and safely as possible to complete the project sooner.

Work will take place during normal working hours, although there will also be some activities at weekends and in the evenings.

There may be a short interruption to your water supply during this scheme as we connect our new pipe to the existing network but we will write to you at least 48 hours in advance if this is going to happen.

Project update

We’re delighted to report our team has now installed all of the new water main along Nine Mile Ride.

Work has taken slightly longer than we initially anticipated due to a number of issues outside of our control, including having to carefully navigate the pipe around other utilities underground.

Now the pipe is installed, the next step is to connect customer supplies to the new water main so we can continue to pump top-quality drinking water to customer taps.

Temporary traffic lights remain in place in order for our team and the public to stay safe and we are very sorry for any disruption these may cause.

As you may be aware, the area has experienced a number of pipe bursts in recent years so this vital investment will go a long way in futureproofing drinking water supplies.

It is anticipated work will be complete by Friday 7 April and we are incredibly grateful to the local community for their continued patience.
