We’re investing £95,000 to replace approximately 130m of the water main in Keld Drive, Uckfield. This is part of our ongoing programme of investment to improve our water supply network.
Part of the current main is no longer fit for purpose so to prevent water quality issues and ensure customers continue to receive top quality water, we will be replacing a section with a brand new pipe.
This work will be carried out using directional drilling, a process that involves digging two pits and tunnelling the new pipe between these points.
We will work with residents to maintain access to their homes while keeping our workforce and motorists safe while this work is carried out.
The project started on Monday 6 March, and will take approximately seven weeks to complete.

Access to properties will be maintained at all times, however there may be a short wait if we are working in front of your property.
We will work with residents to maintain access in and out of the cul-de-sac using priority board signage.
As the work will require connections to the existing network, there will be a short interruption in supply. We will notify you well in advance when this is due to happen.

We’re pleased to say all new main has now been installed and tested. We’ve excavated the required areas to allow us to connect customer services to the new main once all tests have been passed.

Directional drilling will take place this week and we have excavated a trench ready for the section of pipeline that cannot be drilled. We’re planning to test the new main later this week once installation is complete.

We’re preparing the site for horizontal directional drilling to allow us to lay the majority of the new water main, and this is planned to start on Monday 20 March.
