We’re planning to carry out some investigation work in Newhaven, East Sussex, to help us plan a route for a new water main in the area.

This investigation forms part of our plan to replace the existing water main at Newhaven Swing Bridge, which has burst several times in recent years – causing frequent disruption to residents.

Our team will be digging some trial holes and undertaking boreholes to assess the state of the ground and determine the best route for the new pipe.

The vast majority of the work will be carried out within private land, however, some digging will be required along Lewes Road, between Newhaven Cemetery and Elphick Road.

When our team is working in Lewes Road, temporary traffic lights will be in operation to ensure the safety of the public and our workforce.

Work is planned to begin on 13 September and will run until early October, however traffic lights will only be in operation between 14 September and 20 September.

We are really sorry for any disruption this vital work may cause.
