Please use the step-by-step guide below to assist you in applying for a new water connection.
* Please note South East Water will provide guidance, if necessary, on whether to install a company main. Where relevant we will offer the options of both connections from an existing company main, as well as the installation of a new company main.
Step 2 - Complete the application form:
Please fill out the relevant application form completely and return to us, attaching all documentation requested on the application form. Failure to enclose the correct documentation will result in a delay to your application.
Step 3 - Estimate of costs:
Estimate prepared – including confirmation of costs (service pipe connection cost, requisition charge or self-lay charges) and asset payment.
A draft section 42 undertaking or self-lay agreement will be sent with the estimate.
Step 4 - Inspection (services only):
Request Inspection, Trench and Private supply pipe
There is a minimum and maximum depth at which service pipes should be laid:
- Minimum depth is 750 mm
- Maximum depth is 1350 mm
If an installer wishes to install a service pipe either deeper or shallower than these depths they must notify South East Water for permission.
Important note: The water service pipe must be a minimum of 350 mm away from any gas supply.
Step 5 - Meter Installation and account set-up
The final stage is the installation of your water meter and completion of the set-up of the account.
Please note – if South East Water has not received your plot to postal information prior to connection being made then the account(s) will be set up under the name of the developer who will be liable for all charges relating to the account(s).
