South East Water has changed how water is distributed in Walderslade.
As a result customers may notice a difference in taste to their tap water. The reason is that previously the supply was taken from a surface water treatment works owned by another company. We have now switched to our own treatment works.
The new supply is from a groundwater source and is classed as hard water. That means it contains naturally occurring calcium and magnesium salts. These are dissolved as the water passes through the ground. Their presence does not affect the wholesomeness of the water.
Hard water does produce a scale deposit when boiled. This is normal and can be minimised by only using as much water as you need and emptying an appliance before another use.
We monitor the quality of our drinking water throughout the treatment process. You can find out more about water quality here www.southeastwater.co.uk/your-water/water-quality
