Highlands Avenue, Uckfield

What work are we doing?

To ensure our customers continue to enjoy top quality and reliable tap water, we will be carrying out a scheme to lay a new water main along Highlands Aevenue in Uckfield.

The water main which runs within the footpath along Highlands Avenue is creating significant water quality problems. This is unacceptable to us and to help rectify the situation, we will be replacing the old unreliable water main.

Where are we working?

Work to lay the 278 metre pipe will take place at the junction between Highlands Avenue and Lewes Street, and continue along Highlands Avenue for its entire length.

As the majority of the work will be completed along the edge of the kerb line within the Highlands Avenue, there will be no requirement for general traffic control although we will have safety barriers and signage in place. However, in order to carry out the connection onto our existing apparatus at the junction between Highlands Avenue and Lewes Street, a three-way traffic light system will need to be implemented for that part of the project.

When will the work take place?

Construction is planned to start on Monday 31 July 2017 and the project is expected to last approximately eleven weeks, finishing in early October 2017.

Work will take place during normal working hours, although there may be some activities at weekends.
