Metering makes a difference in Camberley
12 October 2016
South East Water is more than half way through its programme to fit meters for almost all its domestic customers in Camberley.
The company started its metering programme in 2011 and has worked its way across the Surrey and Hampshire on a street by street basis, reaching Camberley in spring 2016.
So far technicians have fitted 14,590 meters with a further 4,400 expected to be fitted by the end of the year.
South East Water’s Metering Manager Oluseyi Onifade said: “We are making very good progress with our metering programme and have received positive feedback from customers.
“By moving to a water meter, customers have more control over their water usage and it’s a fairer way to pay for water. Once we introduce the metered charge, like gas and electricity bills, customers only pay for what they use. If they use water wisely and don’t waste it, they could also see their water bills reduce.”
