Updates

15 June 2017

As part of our works we will be installing a section of pipe across the busy city ring road. To ensure minimal disruption to the public, we have agreed with the Highways Authority to undertake this essential work at night.

This work is therefore planned to take place from 19:00hrs to 06:00hrs between Monday 19 June 2017 to Friday 30 June 2017. However, our contractor will be working hard to complete this work ahead of schedule.

Regretfully, owing to the nature of these necessary works, there may be some noise disruption to nearby residents. Our contractors are under strict instructions to keep any noise to an absolute minimum.

The work will be taking place on Rhodaus Town near the Riding Gate Roundabout, just down from the Old Dover Road junction. Work will be carried out under lane closures and the road will remain open to through traffic.

We would like to take this opportunity to apologise to all our customers in advance for any disruption this essential connection work may cause.

The first 70 metre section of pipe has now been successfully installed along Castle Row, from the junction of Castle Street to the White Hart pub.

We are now working on the next section of water main between the pub and Age Concern and are aiming to complete this by the end of week commencing 8 May.

Following this we will move onto the third section of works where we will need to put a road closure back in place on Pin Hill. We are aiming to do this during the school holidays in order to minimise distribution.

We are currently still on schedule to complete the scheme by the end of July.

Our works along Castle Row are progressing well and we remain on schedule to complete the scheme by July.

The scheme is progressing well along the city wall carriageway with 200 metres of new pipe already in the ground via directional drilling and a further 100 metres still to be drilled. We have have also dug half the 50 metres of open cut excavation required.

Location of the work was moved from the opposite carriageway to the city wall side due to utilities congestion in the bus lane which meant it was impossible to dig there without seriously encroaching on the main carriageways.
