Why are we doing this work?
To ensure our customers in the area continue to enjoy top quality tap water, we will be installing 570 metres of new water main along Rhodaus Town, Canterbury.
The new water main will improve the capacity of our network and ensure we can continue to maintain water pressure to the area as the community grows.
Where are we working?
Work on the £300,000 scheme will predominantly be carried out in the bus lane along Rhodaus Town, crossing over Pin Hill into Castle Row and towards Castle Street.
If possible, we will be using directional drilling techniques which involve excavating a series of pits and constructing the new water pipe underground between these pits. If this is not achievable, traditional trenching techniques will be used.
The safety of both the public and our workforce is our priority, therefore it will be necessary to close the bus lane along Rhodaus Town. A road closure will also be in place in Castle Row.
When will the work take place?
Construction is planned to start on Monday 13 March 2017 and the project is expected to take approximately 18 weeks to complete.
Work will take place during normal working hours, although there may be some activities at night and weekends as we cross from Rhodaus Town into Castle Row.
