As part of an ongoing programme to improve our water supply network we are planning a scheme to install 70 metres of new water main along North Holmes Road, Canterbury.
The £16,500 scheme between the junctions of St Gregory’s Road and Edgar Road is necessary to improve the capacity of the network and ensure we can continue to maintain water pressure to the area as the community grows.
How can we ensure this work is done with minimum disruption to you?
If possible, we will be using directional drilling techniques which involve excavating a series of pits and constructing the new water pipe underground between these pits. If this is not achievable, traditional trenching techniques will be used.
Construction work will be carried out in sections, with the road being returned to its original state upon completion of one section before the working area moves along to the next stage.
As a safety precaution for pedestrians, motorists and our contractor a number of parking bays will be suspended and temporary traffic lights will be used at our construction site. However, please be assured that access to homes and Canterbury Christ Church University will be maintained at all times.
When is the work due to start?
Construction is planned to start on Monday 13th February 2017 and the project is expected to take approximately five weeks to complete.
Our contractor will work as hard as possible to complete the work quickly and safely.
Work will take place during normal working hours, although there may be some activities at weekends.
