Ashford, A20

Why are we doing this work?

To ensure our customers in the area continue to enjoy top quality tap water, we will be installing a new water main from Orchard Heights Roundabout on the A20 connecting with the existing water network under a road bridge at Fougeres Way.

The new water main will improve the capacity of our network and ensure we can continue to maintain water pressure to the area as the community grows.

Where are we working?

The pipeline will be installed from Orchard Heights Roundabout on the A20 connecting with the existing water network under a road bridge at Fougeres Way.

If possible, we will be using directional drilling techniques which involve excavating a series of pits and constructing the new water pipe underground between these pits. If this is not achievable, traditional trenching techniques will be used.

The safety of both the public and our workforce is our priority therefore it will be necessary to close a lane on the A20 from the Orchard Heights Roundabout for 90m towards Drovers Roundabout where work is taking place. In addition to this, Warren Lane will also be closed from under the A20 subway bridge to The Warren car park for 5 weeks starting from the 24 July 2017.

Access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.

When will the work take place?

Construction is due to start on Monday 24 July 2017 and is expected to take approximately 20 weeks to complete.

Work will take place during normal working hours, although there may be some activities at weekends.
