Medstead - improving the water network

*Update 29 September 2017

Due to unforseen delays with work currently being undertaken in the area, we now expect to start our £385,000 scheme to lay a new water main along Red Hill and Five Ash Road in January 2018.

We will keep you updated on the date we plan to start this work when it has been confirmed with the local highways team.

Sorry for any inconvenience this delay may cause.

Why are we doing this work?

As part of an ongoing programme to improve our water supply network we are planning a scheme to install a new 1,340-metre water pipeline from a private track off Boyneswood Road and along Red Hill and Five Ash Road.

This £385,000 scheme is necessary to improve the capacity of the network and ensure we can continue to maintain water pressure to the area as the community grows.

Where are we working?

Work to install the new water main will be carried out in three phases.

Phase 1 – Along a private track off Boyneswood Road

Phase 2 – Along Red Hill

Phase 3 – Along Five Ash Road

Construction work will be carried out within the carriageway on Red Hill and Five Ash Road, with the road being returned to its original state upon completion of the project.

As a safety precaution for pedestrians and motorists, our contractor will need to close Red Hill and Five Ash Road. This will be carried out under a rolling road closure and the new main will be installed in sections before that section is reinstated and the work moves along to the next stage.

However, please be assured that access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.

Work will take place during normal working hours, although there may be some activities at weekends.
