*Update 26 April 2017
We are pleased to say our new main has been laid and most of the services have been connected to the new pipeline. However, we need to revisit the site to abandon the old pipe and transfer an outstanding service that could not be located originally.
To undertake this work safely, a temporary road closure will be in place along Langworthy Lane between Monday 15 May and Friday 19 May.
We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
Why are we doing this work?
To ensure our customers in Holyport continue to enjoy top quality tap water, South East Water will be laying a new water main in the area.
Work on the £58,000 scheme, approximately 215 metres in length, will begin on Monday 16 January and the project is expected to be completed in May 2017.
Where are we working?
Work to install the new water main will take place along Langworthy Lane and up to number 6 Langworthy End.
If possible we will be using directional drilling techniques which involve excavating a series of pits where the pipe will run between then drilling the new water pipe. If this is not possible, traditional trenching techniques will be used.
Construction works will be carried out in stages with the road being returned to its original state upon completion of one section. The working area will then move along to the next section.
As a safety precaution for pedestrians, motorists and our contractor, we will need to temporarily close Langworthy Lane while this work takes place.
However, please be assured that access to homes and businesses will be maintained at all times.
Work will take place during normal office hours however some work may also take place at weekends.
